Everyone knows the annoying hassle that is, pop up ads. Understandably, many companies make profits off of these ads and use that money to create more stories. Revenue is an obvious important factor for businesses, but the means of creating that revenue could come back to haunt you. This week I looked at the NBC TV Network website and Buzzfeed. NBC was more of a TV guide and focused on promoting their up and coming seasonal premiers. This way of advertising was for their own company and made people want to watch the episode and find out what happens. When people tune into the show the company then gets money for the number of viewers. On the other hand, the Buzzfeed website was cluttered with ads. Though these ads were not pop ups they made the website look messy and disorganized. The company obviously gets money from the sponsors for having the marginal ads, but they are quite distracting to the viewer/reader. The way that Buzzfeed is creating revenue is almost deferring people from actually reading an article. In this market society everything requires money, but there are so many different means of obtaining that money and I think that NBC is doing a much better job than Buzzfeed at the moment.
