Media currently controls many aspects of our lives. Society has placed an overwhelming amount of trust in the media and this new idea of ‘fake news’ has everyone on the edge of their seats. True stories are starting to get twisted and manipulated in order to raise clicks which in turn produces more revenue. This tends to distract the public from stories that should really hold our attention. This article in the JournalSentinel about transfers in the public school system is exactly the kind of story the public should be concerned with. Students transferring schools may not seem like a huge problem, but this article explains the possible consequences. Students move schools for many different reasons and this movement affects the teachers, permanent students, and the new students. This means that this phenomenon could easily affect your children and your family. It may not seem like you are directly involved in the news, but we all are. We the people, those are the first three words of the Declaration of Independence. Everything in the news, politics, or environment is relevant to you whether you think it is or not. This whole unit has illustrated the importance and relevance of media in our every day lives.
